Nestled deep in Malibu's Santa Monica Mountains is the sprawling 1,000-acre Saddlerock
Ranch, home to Malibu Family Wines. Visitors may recognize the vineyard and unusual
rock formations from over 100 movies, commercials and television shows filmed here.
The estate is also home to dozens of horses and exotic animals and a popular weekend
setting for weddings and special events.
The Malibu Hills Vineyards are situated at elevations between 1,450 to 1,510 feet.
To the west of the vineyards is a 1,630-foot ridge making a unique microclimate
in the hills above Malibu, California.
Starting with the foundation of premium fruits, winemaker George Gilpatrick adds
high-quality American & French oak along with meticulous winemaking to create
two exceptional series of Rancho Ventavo Cellars wine.
Founded in 1972 by father and son, Leonard and Brooks Firestone, Firestone Vineyard
has enjoyed 35 years of family stewardship. Recently, so that they might concentrate
on their burgeoning beer business and smaller Curtis Winery, the Firestone family
decided to sell their iconic winery. In doing so, they turned to fellow Santa Barbara
vintner Bill Foley (Foley Estates Vineyard and Winery, Lincourt Vineyards) as the
logical next shepherd for the famous property. As the Firestone’s identified earlier
on, Bill, too, recognized Santa Barbara County as the ideal location for the production
of world class wines.
The Herzog Story
The Herzog Story The Jewish people have a special relationship to wine that predates
even the Romans and Greeks. For the ancient Jews, whose temple in Jerusalem was
renowned throughout the fledgling civilizations of the Middle East, wine played
an important role in religious ritual. Today, thousands of years later, it continues
to do so. Kiddush, the prayer over the wine, traditionally announces the beginning
of the Sabbath on Friday night as well as other holidays.

The Santa Monica Mountains are one of best kept secrets in Southern California.
They have long served as a cloistered haven for the rich and famous while providing
the backdrop for many famous Hollywood productions. Paramount Studios and Fox Studios
used their ranches in the Santa Monica Mountains as back lots for numerous classics
like Frankenstein with Boris Karloff.
This year the Gainey family celebrates their 47th year of farming and ranching in
Santa Barbara County. Since the beginning, it has always been the land and its potential
that has guided the family. In 1962, Dan C. and his son Dan J. Gainey purchased
an 1800 acre ranch on the eastern end of the Santa Ynez Valley. With over 1000 acres
of rangeland devoted to cattle, 600 acres of farmland, 100 acres of Arabian horses
facilities and 100 acres of vineyards.
Sunstone Vineyards and Winery is located 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara
and is one of the most beautiful wineries and tasting rooms in the Santa Ynez Valley.
Sunstone's tasting room is reminiscent of some of the small wineries in the Provencal
French countryside, featuring a kitchen complete with a wood-burning oven and two
stone barrel-aging caves built into the hillside. The Rice Family farms their 56-acre
vineyards in an organic, bio-sustainable manner, meeting all California Certified
Organic Farmer standards.
Rideau Vineyard was founded in 1997 by New Orleans native, Iris Rideau. Early on
in the winery’s inception, Iris Rideau decided to dedicate her estate vineyard entirely
to Rhône varietals. She felt that Rhône wines were not only ideally suited to the
Santa Ynez Valley AVA, but also instinctively felt that they were best suited to
the Creole cuisine of her childhood. Indeed, as the vines matured, and the first
estate wines were produced, Iris soon began hosting a series of Creole-inspired
dinners, with each dish paired with a Rhône varietal.

Foley Estates Vineyard & Winery at Rancho Santa Rosa is the realization of vintner
Bill Foley's dream to produce world class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Santa Barbara
County. A historic parcel located in the Sta. (Santa) Rita Hills region of the Santa
Ynez Valley, Rancho Santa Rosa was formerly a thoroughbred horse ranch. In 1998,
the 460-acre property was purchased and planted to 230 acres of vineyard. Devoted
to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, the vineyard has been subdivided into 59 micro-blocks
with each being farmed, harvested and vinified separately. The handsome stables
have been refurbished to house the winery.
